ARTIST STATEMENT
Art has always been a very important part of my life since I was a child, being fortunate to have received plenty of encouragement from my family and the teachers and lecturers at the schools and colleges that I attended. From an early age I entered into competitions, to then start commissioned pieces once my college studies began. Since leaving college I have explored many avenues of art, being fascinated to see its evolution, not only in the world around me, but also in my own work due to the life experiences I have had.
A predominant feature in my work has been to render accurately the chosen subject. It has been this way since I can remember, my eye for detail and the need to improve my technical ability becoming a force to push against my limitations, forming new circles of growth artistically, thus challenging myself to meet a higher and higher standard of work. The foundation of my art together with accuracy lays also in technique, with observation and a sense of balance being necessary components in each piece.
